Yan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. During her PhD study, Yan has developed strong research and analytical skills. Specifically, she designs experiments to facilitate characterization of alloy oxidation process. Yan is passionate about new emerging technologies and is willing to assist commercialization process of high-tech products. Yan also cares about education, healthcare and other industries that demonstrate great social impact and support community well-being.

When she is not doing science, Yan enjoys dancing. She especially enjoying her experiences in a university dance group where she practiced and performed with other dancers. Yan is also an avid Yoga practitioner and is planning on obtaining a teacher certificate after she finishes her PhD.
